OUR PROCESS

We understand that no two waste streams are the same. That’s why we focus onsolutions that are tailored, scalable, and fully compliant. Whether you're a local site generating EPS waste or a national operation with complex material flows, our team works with you to design a system that delivers measurable outcomes without unnecessary complexity.

our clients.

Our EPS Recycling Process

At Volker Gruppe, we operate a carefully controlled recycling process designed to maximize
recovery and reuse of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) materials. Every stage of our operation is
focused on quality, traceability, and sustainability, ensuring all incoming material is transformed
into high-grade recycled output ready for reintroduction into manufacturing.

Identification and Grading

All inbound EPS material is pre-identified for recycling within our facility. On arrival, each load is
inspected, checked, and graded by polystyrene type and colour. This crucial first step ensures the
material is correctly categorized for efficient recovery and conversion into compacted briquettes.

Collection and Delivery

Material enters our facility either through scheduled collections or customer deliveries, managed via our booking system to ensure a smooth and traceable process.

Preparation and Compaction

Once graded, material is batched and prepared for processing. Each batch is fed through our crushing and compacting systems on a continuous cycle, producing uniform briquettes in either white or mixed-colour formats.

Palletising and Storage

All compacted briquettes are palletised, wrapped, net-weighed, and securely stored on site, ready for onward collection or dispatch.

Reprocessing and Reuse

The finished briquettes are sent for further processing into high-quality recycled polystyrene (rPS or GP.PS) pellets. These pellets are then reintroduced into manufacturing streams, most commonly for use in XPS insulation boards and general extrusion applications.
